This Full-wave Barbell Horn® (FBH) is designed for the BSP-1200 ultrasonic processor configured in the batch mode and has the output tip diameter of 35 mm. Barbell Horns® amplify ultrasonic amplitudes while maintaining large output tip diameters, which makes it possible to directly scale-up high-intensity ultrasonic processes.
Lead time to shipping: 1 week.

Q1. How are Barbell Horns® different from other ultrasonic horns, probes or sonotrodes?
Barbell Horn® Ultrasonic Technology (BHUT) makes it possible to directly scale-up an ultrasonic process without reducing the amplitude and cavitation intensity provided by a horn. This permits obtaining reproducible post-scale-up results, where productivity rates increase by orders of magnitude while the highest finished product quality is maintained. The below video explains it in greater detail:
Q2. Are ultrasonic horns consumable parts that need to be replaced? How long does a horn last?
Ultrasonic horns are consumable parts that need to be periodically replaced. On average, a horn should last between 100 and 500 hours of processing. Working with aggressive chemicals (e.g., acids), under challenging physical conditions (e.g., with abrasive particles), at high ultrasonic amplitudes or at elevated pressures, however, can shorten a horn's lifetime significantly. On the other hand, horns used with most organic solvents, oils or waxes generally last much longer.
Q3. Can I use the FBH horn for flow-through processing with a reactor chamber (flow-cell)?
No. This FBH horn is designed for batch-mode processing in a beaker containing 500 ml - 2 L of liquid.
Q4. Can I use this FBH horn with one of your other systems (LSP-600 or ISP-3600)?
This FBH horn can be used with the ISP-3600 ultrasonic processor. It is not, however, compatible with the LSP-600 ultrasonic processor.
