An ultrasonic transducer converts electric energy coming from an ultrasonic generator into mechanical vibrations. The ACT-22-LSP air-cooled piezoelectric transducer has the power rating of 600 W. It is designed to work with the LSP-600 ultrasonic processor and all LSP-600-compatible ultrasonic horn types

LSP-600 Ultrasonic Processor Unbox & Assembly Instructions (Flow-Through Mode):

Typical lead time to shipping: 1 week.

  • Tip diameter: 35 mm
  • Amplitude: 22 microns (max.)
  • Frequency: 20 (+/- 1) kHz
  • Power: 600 W (max.)

Q1. Do I need to do anything to cool my ACT-22-LSP transducer?

Not unless it operates for extended periods of time. The ACT-22-LSP transducer can be air-cooled passively or actively. Passive air-cooling does not require any action from the operator. While passively air-cooled, the unit can operate for about 30 minutes at a time. If your application requires greater than 30 minutes of continuous processing, additional cooling may be required. When the temperature sticker at the unit's front mass (where it meets the horn) shows 45 oC (113 oF) or more, supply dry, cool and clean compressed air to one of the ports in the lid while keeping the other port open as a vent. Note that the ports may require additional adapters to connect your compressed air line.

Q2. Will the system turn off automatically if the transducer starts to overheat?

It will not. It is up to the operator to observe the temperature sticker at the unit's front mass (where it meets the horn) and make sure it does not reach 54 oC (130 oF), beyond which the unit may get overheated and permanently damaged. If the temperature sticker begins to show 45 oC (113 oF) or more, supply dry, cool and clean compressed air to one of the ports in the lid while keeping the other port open as a vent.

Q3. Can I cool the transducer with liquid, such as water or a solvent, instead of air?

No, you cannot. Do NOT use any type of liquid for cooling the ACT-22-LSP transducer as this may cause an electrical short and/or other irreversible damage to sensitive internal components. The unit can only be cooled with dry, cool and clean compressed air.

Q4. Can I use any BSP-1200 or ISP-3000 horns with the ACT-22-LSP transducer?

No, you cannot. The ACT-22-LSP transducer is only compatible with LSP-600 processor horns, including CH and FBH types.
